Hedgehog Tracker 3000 -DIY project
I'd love to know if there are Hedgehogs in my Garden. I doubt they are but to find out I created a hedgehog tracker. I found a guideonline a few days ago but decided to ignore the instructions and just go for it.
Not going to lie it took a lot more effort than initially intended!
This will work for all small animals such as mice, rats, shrews, stoats, weasels etc
So how do you make one of them? Follow my steps below
Get some corrugated plastic cut into 3 sections to form a triangular tuennel.
Tape up any parts you broke in the process too!
Then on the base panel tape down 2 sheets of A4 paper securely. Or use paper clips.
In the centre place a saucer of safe foods for hedgehogs -NO MILK NO BREAD. Cat food and meal worms are ideal.
NOTE - My image has a glass ramekin but the sides are too high.
Then for the ink lay some tape infront of the A4 near each entrance.
Make a mix of charcoal and oil and paint it onto the tape. If they lick the charcoal its not harmful to them.
Then add your food of choice, Tape up the sides to form the tunnel and place in a linear hedgerow or near shrubs.
Check every day, leave for 5 days then move around to a different location.
Different animal prints you can find in your garden.
