Fish are such a wonderful creation of nature.
Whose entire life depends entirely on water. It's impossible to imagine a fish's life without water. This is why, since childhood, we've all heard the saying, "The fish is the queen of water; its life is water." This isn't just a poem, but an absolute truth. Fish depend on water for every need, big or small. Let's understand why water is so important to them: Other terrestrial creatures breathe oxygen from the air, but fish survive on oxygen dissolved in water. They don't have lungs, but gills. When a fish inhales water through its mouth, the water passes through the gills. These gills absorb oxygen from the water and expel carbon dioxide. Once out of the water, these gills clump together, preventing them from breathing, and they suffocate within minutes.
Water provides a medium for fish to swim and move. The body structure of fish is streamlined, which helps them move forward without water pressure. Their fins and tails help them maintain balance and change direction. Without water, they cannot move even a step. The entire ecosystem of fish thrives within water. Their food—such as tiny aquatic plants (plankton), insects, and other small fish—is found in water. Furthermore, water provides them protection from external predators and harsh weather conditions (such as extreme heat or cold). By venturing deeper, they remain safe. In short, water is not just a habitat for fish, but their protector, nourishment, and very life. Being separated from water is a direct invitation to death. Therefore, if we want to save these beautiful aquatic creatures, we must keep our water sources (rivers, ponds, and oceans) pollution-free and safe.
