Australia has the luxury of hosting an 8th species on its own, and Africa protects the most widespread among them, also present in Madagascar: the African baobab. It is a species of baobab found from the east to the west of Africa and which is also present on the archipelago of Comoros and in Madagascar. It is not the species that lives the longest, but it still reaches a few hundred years of longevity. On the island of Mayotte, the oldest of these trees still alive has been estimated at 420 years
