I hope you are right. I always (ok... nearly always) prewash the fabric before sewing. This one is still stiff. But I have no experience with cotton fabrics, so I hope you are right (and my fabric knows this :-D)

Did you wash it in hot water?

It was last year so I hope my memory is not false... I think I washed it at 30°C in the washing machine with a slow rotation. This is the standard pre-washing I do with most new fabrics.

cotton can happily go up to 60C :) You can also consider putting a pair of long darts into the back waist area

OHHHH 60? I thought I will turn it into a dolls blouse :-D Ok, you see I am not very cotton-fit.
The next days (or weeks..) I first will sew this as recommended in the book and then I will evaluate the fit and change more things. Your tip is a good idea, as the blouse has too much fabric at my sway back.

Only wool shrinks at high temperatures
I'll keep an eye on the progress, I'm not a qualified pattern-maker but I spent quite a few years in work that required me to learn the ins and outs of it so i'll happily add my 2cents if you like. What you have done with the sleeves so far is right

Absolutely!!! I am a very slow learner in sewing and I profit so much from all of your advices. I hope I won‘t have too much migraines this weeks (arg woman problems) and find time to sew the sleeves in and write about it on Monday.
Thank you so much for helping!!!! 💕🌈
(If you are ver up to, I am very interested what you did to learn about fabric and sewing)
