Eleven days after the surge, Sunday is a counting day, not another breakthrough day. The two Saturday rescues are in hospital. The official sheet has been revised twice in 24 hours. The missing list is still close to five thousand.

Saturday’s noon figure was 1,344. By 6 p.m. NDRRMA had cut it to 1,331 after district lists were cleaned. Sunday morning it is 1,341 again. Police and NDRRMA still do not always publish the same number on the same hour. Read every total as a working count.
Among recovered remains, earlier Saturday briefings said about 85 were children and about 500 came in as partial remains. More than 1,000 bodies have already been temporarily buried after DNA samples were taken. Chitwan has started matching: 68 family samples collected there so far.
Rasuwa alone still has about 3,071 people on an unaccounted list in one Sunday local report. That is one district. The national missing figure is larger because Nuwakot, hydropower crews and foreign lists sit on top.
What happened to Saturday’s two survivors
Lu Haitao, the Chinese worker pulled from Audit Tunnel 4 at Upper Trishuli-1, about 225 metres in, is reported stable. The Army said he had no obvious injuries; medics flagged mild hypothermia. He told Chinese television he had shouted whenever he saw rescue lights. South Korean specialists were on the team that brought him out. Korean officials later said his account pointed to at least one more person nearby. Search at that tunnel continued.
Chandika Kumari Shrestha, the woman from the fourth floor in Betrawati, was airlifted first to the Army’s Maithili Barracks in Trishuli Bazaar, then to Birendra Military Hospital in Kathmandu. Her family in the capital had already begun symbolic funeral rites. That is how long hope had been running.
Friday’s two NEA men from Trishuli-3A remain the first tunnel survivors: Sanjay Sah stable, Kabir Maharjan still in intensive care. No new live pull from 3A was reported on Sunday. Teams are still in Chilime with the Indian crew, still in Trishuli-1, still arguing with mud.
The work that is not a rescue
Relief from Kathmandu has moved as 83 truckloads, 38 jeeps and nine helicopter supply flights, plus 173 Armed Police air sorties into Rasuwa and Nuwakot. That is logistics, not a rebuilt highway. Prithvi Highway’s Krishnabhir cut is still the reason LPG and goods crawl.
A preliminary damage figure circulating with Sunday coverage put property and infrastructure loss around $2.56 billion. That sits under the earlier $4–5 billion reconstruction talk. Both are estimates.
