My interest in "Wednesday" is fading fast
I truly enjoyed the first season of Wednesday on Netflix and I thought it was a pretty novel approach to the show that was popular in the original sense in the 60's, popular as a couple of films both animated and live action.
When they decided to make a series out of this and put a lot of money behind it and even hired Tim Burton to direct, I was extremely stoked. I really liked season 1 even though it wasn't as dark and adult as I would have preferred.
Season 2 on the other hand, is starting to showcase that I think this is something that is not for me, and my interest is waning pretty rapidly.

The show is still for the most part visually appealing. I do think they go for a bit too much as far as some of the CGI is concerned, but it still looks very very good. I would be quite interested to see a behind the scenes as far as how they are able to make the locations look so real because obviously there is not an actual giant castle-school in the mountains somewhere.

You can see up on the top left there that the building is just a facade and that is not a huge surprise. I'm actually impressed that they didn't green screen the entire thing.
While I can praise them for the direction, acting (for the most part), and their use of effects, I gotta give them a thumbs down as far as writing is concerned. The second season's overall story is just going in too many directions at once. Obviously we need some sort of issue that needs to be resolved and they get to that right away, but there is so much going on that after 3 episodes I don't really know exactly what it is that I am meant to be focused on right now.
I also really do not enjoy how they seem to be force feeding us Pugsley.

The show is called "Wednesday" so when they go off on a side quest with Pugsley I am annoyed. I don't know if they are testing the waters to see if there is interest enough to make a Pugsley show or what but often his side missions don't have anything to do with what Wednesday is up to and therefore I just tune out whenever he is on screen.
I think that with the writing they are losing me because I no longer really care about what is going on with the characters. I'm sure that it isn't easy to be a script writer, but all of this so far just seems like a convoluted mess and I don't feel inclined to really continue to watch it.
For now it is getting relegated to the "i guess I'll watch an episode when I run out of anything else to watch"
What about you? Are you enjoying season 2? Or has it been a letdown to you as well?
I thought it was just me. I couldn't bring myself to watch even the second episode of season 2 — you've explained why. I might continue it when I have nothing else to watch.
I think that is the only reason why I would go back to it as well. The magic just isn't there for me anymore.
