Vegas has always been a vibrant city for a good holiday. It's not just the casinos that are the centerpiece of Vegas. However, I would not recommend visiting a casino. It's a one way game.
The atmosphere of entertainment attracts many not the most pleasant people. There is a problem and the city is trying to solve it through legal means. I myself stopped visiting Vegas a long time ago.
