A New Year
What comes in our mind, when we talk about New Year?
“happy moments, new calendar, first January, fireworks, wishes, prayers, new goals and stuff like that.
Yes! All before mentioned things come to our mind. Definitely, being a person of this modern generation,
we think of all this. We start waiting for New Year a month before. We use to plan for new year’s night, friends' get together, family reunion, we start texting our loved ones asking for forgiving us for our little mistakes and all that kind of things. Is this all a new year means?
Let’s talk about “what is a new year means?”,
“For what we celebrate a new year?” and “From where all this started?” These all questions rise in my head.
Everyone has a different point of view regarding this topic and what I think is that a new year is a new hope.
Time passes and there is no change in our lives. In general, if we see these all hopes and thoughts regarding New Year just relaxes our minds and give us a break
, that is not actually a break, but this is all about what we decide to go through. In my opinion New Year changes nothing. It is all about our thoughts. If we need a start kick, we can make every day of the year like first day of the year. Every day can bring you a new chance, a new goal, the only thing you need to remember is that what you want to do with your life. Otherwise, following that only first January brings new year should be only considered as you are only going with the flow of the world.
This is all about the story of non-Muslims. But, besides being a Muslim our new year starts from first of Moharram. It’s the first month according to our Islamic calendar. We (Muslims) do not celebrate our new year, because the first month remindes us of the martyrs of Islam. We remember them throughout the whole year but, these starting two months are a little more focused on them. We do not hangout with our friends, we do not party. In fact, we use to gather on one place and try to learn more about our religion. We learn more about the life of our Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) and I think that this is much better than all those useless parties.
Well, everyone has a different way of thinking and this is all what I think about a new year. Those who do not think the way I do, does not mean that they are wrong. We are just a little different from each others. We should respect each other’s opinion rather than trying to prove others wrong. Many years passed away and many more are coming, we should always stay constant with a smile that Yes! We welcome the happy moments and yes! We are even ready to face difficulties as well. Start a new year with a big smile forgetting about the worries you went through last year.
