What a great and addictive adventure Steemit has already been! I know that I said that my first real post would be about my experience with side hustles from home, but I am just bubbling with excitement and thoughts about being on Steemit. So I just thought I would jot them down and share that. Let's call this Introduction post 1.5

I have recently persuaded my partner to get an app for his phone to kinda control how much he uses it. He agrees that he might spend a bit too much time on Facebook and gets too caught up in random Youtube videos…we all know that feeling. But since I got my profile here, four days ago, I am now the one with a social media addiction - I keep checking replies to my post, looking for interesting posts to reply to, finding people to follow etc.

I feel hooked and keep checking in. It feels a bit like playing a computer game. You have a score, upvotes, replies, followers and you go out in "the field" to explore and gain more valuable stats. It is very addicting. I did not come up with that allegory myself. Somebody in a podcast or Ted talk - or Youtube video - once described Twitter as being a new form of computer game, playing the game of getting followers. And I think Steemit takes that game to another level.

My first days here have also been very encouraging for me. I am sure that there are people who do much better, but I feel like I am off to a good start. I am getting a lot of nice comments and help from the community. A lot of the comments has opened my eyes to new concepts, stats, competitions, and new words - and sometimes it does feel a little bit overwhelming, and hard to figure out what is going on.

Actually, speaking of new words...This here paragraph I am writing today, and the rest was written up and ready to go yesterday. But then the concept of Resource Credits hit me hard. When trying to post I was presented with a message of transaction error, and I could not do anything active on Steemit for the rest of the day. I learned that Resource Credits is another stat to keep an eye on, and it limits the amount of action you can perform during a given time period. I am still not sure if my 17 percent will be enough to post this today, we shall see...

Somewhere it was mentioned that uploading pictures with your post use a lot of your credits. I thought it might be worth being aware of in the future, and make sure pictures are not bigger than they have to. I have been used to resize pictures using Photoshop, but while traveling I was told about a neat trick - you can install a tiny programme that lets you resize pictures by right-clicking on them. It is very easy. Maybe people already know this or have other ways, and it was only a revelation to me. But here is a link to get that little add-on for Windows.

I have a question: I would like to ask, what app people like to use to be able to go on Steemit from their phone and/or tablet? Is it Esteem or Partiko or something else?

I know, getting an app like that will just feed my newfound addiction and guilty pleasure, but so be it!

P.s: The photo I used in this post is by photographer Jungwoo Hong. I found it on a website with free stock photos. I can not remember which one, but I thought I would share links to some sites I use often. They are all free and very good quality, in my humble opinion.

Nice to read of your enthusiasm @wondergrasp and learn you are enjoying your first few days on our Steem blockchain.

There is a lot to learn in here and for some time after I "jumped in," I sort of felt lost.

After “Chapter One” of my journey “in here” was over, I decided to do something about it. This is what I wrote …

”You are reading what I would like to have been quickly introduced to, when I was where you are right now.”

… in the introduction of my “Flying Start” and “User's Guide” posts. You may find them of value in getting started.

I am definitely an advocate for Partiko. You can follow @crypto.talk and his @partiko team to stay of top of the "latest, greatest" news, as they continue to improve what is already a great app.

Keep up the great work adding value to our Steem blockchain @wondergrasp and, until next time, all the best to you for a better tomorrow! 👍

One upvote is not enough.

Therefore:

Yeah, you need Steem Power in order to have Resource Credits to make actions on the blockchain. I delegated you 50 SP since it seems you will have some good use for it. I'll keep it for you for a month so in that period you will have time to gather some of your own from post rewards. The most straightforward thing is to take your post payouts as 100% Steem Power so you don't have to exchange SBD's to Steem and then power up. Power up all your earnings and you'll eventually have enough of your own.

You can also just buy Steem from an exchange – or use Blocktrades if you have other crypto – right away which is not a bad move either with Steem being so cheap right now.

Now you're not limited to just a few comments on the blockchain :D

PS. From mobile apps, I prefer Partiko myself.

I am encouraged by your enthusiasm to learn. Sounds like you are asking some great questions and look for the answers.

I personally use eSteem. My phone is too old to use Partiko, but I have heard good things about it as well. I also go to Steemit.com on my phone for simple comments and replies and light browsing of Steem posts.

I am glad that you got your first delegation! Yay!
That will make your life a lot easier. I personally power up all my earnings or use them for prizes and such. but Sharon feels that as a Newbie, you are better off to lease steempower with your earnings.
I use Partiko and many like it, but just as many like Esteem. Maybe give both a try and see which one works well for you.
