I am a Curie Curator - Find a great post and let me know! #newbieresteemday
For those that do not already know, I am now a Curie Curator. My first week as a curator is winding down now. I planned at some point to post the guidelines on what you should be looking for to have a better chance of me submitting a post to Curie for an upvote. I have decided to post it now so I can also explain something about my recent post The Most EPIC Movie Chase Scene List Ever - My Favorite 30! Part 2 of 2 (15-1).
As you will see if you look at the post, it is currently sitting there with a pending payout of $335. This is because a fellow Curie Curator submitted my post and was accepted. It got a HUGE upvote last night from Curie and its trailers. It was a 46% upvote, which I am told is very high and rare for an upvote from Curie. My post also received another somewhat rare honor: @curie Resteemed it! That is why it is a bit higher than some of the other upvotes people may receive when I submit a post and it does get upvoted. I was overwhelmed to see the upvote, and am very appreciative of it. It will make a big difference in my life on SteemIt as well as off of the site. I have had some plans in my head of a couple things to do here in the community since I should have a semi-regular flow of Steem coming in as a Curator. I will announce those soon, once I know I have the sustainable flow of Steem meeting my expectations. They will include some sort of contests, and perhaps a weekly post spotlighting and rewarding the top posts we find with the Newbie Resteem Initiative that perhaps weren't good enough or didn't meet the guidelines to submit to Curie, but were still really good.
One last note about my post that was upvoted. A Curie Curator CANNOT submit their own posts, so please don't think that was the case. I know many of you realize that, but I just wanted to put it out there for anyone who doesn't know me and may have thought that was the case. I am confident the majority of my posts are good quality and fun posts, and if some get submitted along the way for a big upvote, wonderful. The rewards will always be appreciated, needed, and used well. But I am here to help find and encourage other people's great posts and submit them, which yes, I will also be rewarded for, just on a much smaller scale.
Now let me share the Curie overview of what it is we do. This is borrowed from the Curie Whitepaper which can be found by clicking that link.
Overview
Curie is a community witness and a meritocratic community curation project.
Following are Curie’s main goals:
- To discover and reward undiscovered but exceptional content by
persistent creators with limited success. - To empower quality curators.
- To develop a curation community on Steem.
- To build communities.
- To serve as a community witness.
Curie has two tiers of curation and quality assurance -- Curators and Reviewers.
Curators find posts, reviewers verify and vote on the posts. Curators receive a
Curation Score. Curators with a high Curation Score can submit more posts,
while curators with low Curation Scores are restricted or disqualified from
curation. This ensures only quality content is submitted to Curie, leading to a
great degree of efficiency and streamlining of curation operations.
That is the end of the directly shared portion of the Curie Whitepaper. The rest here will be me.
First and foremost, the posts need to be exceptional or unique in some way. It can be great art, a touching story, some original music, or, as was shown last night, a well-put-together list of my favorite movie chase scenes. For me personally, I like the posts and authors who engage people, as you will see in my post which lists the posts I submitted this week (which I will be posting tomorrow or Monday). All of the posts were engaging, and they featured talented authors who tell a great story and bring the reader into their situation. They are authors and stories people can identify with. That being said, if you present me with a post that doesn't fit the mold I just explained but is still a really good post, I will consider submitting it anyway. Not everyone on SteemIt is looking for the exact things I am in a post.
Some specific guidelines that it MUST fit into to be considered for Curie are the following:
Post must be between 150 minutes and 24 hours old.
Keep in mind you can bring it to my attention before the 150 minute mark, I just can't submit it till then. If you are Resteeming a post older than 24 hours and it is a great post, please let me know about it anyway. It might be a perfect fit for the weekly post I mentioned earlier.
Absolutely no political, religious, introduction, or Steem posts will be accepted.
Please note that just because a post mentions politics or religion does not classify it as such. If it isn't the main focus of a post, and isn't mentioned in a "ranting' sort of way, it could still be submitted.
Posts MUST be in English.
If a post includes both an English version and another language version BOTH versions must be exceptional, and even then it can be iffy.
Posts must be ORIGINAL content.
Reposting from somewhere else online probably means the post doesn't have a chance, even if it is the author's own content. The focus is on original-to-Steem posts. To take that a step further, it is one thing if it is the author's content, but if it isn't, it takes it to a whole other level. Plagiarism is unacceptable. At times it could be reported to the different services that point out it is plagiarism.
On that same sort of topic - All images should be sourced if they are not the author's.
This is usually an easy thing to accomplish. Sourcing things by simply saying "Google Images" is not good enough. Conversely, though, I feel if there is a video from, say, YouTube, sourcing it simply as "YouTube.com" is acceptable because all you have to do is click the YouTube link in the video to be sent directly to the precise source.
I think that is the end of the specific guidelines.
Please keep in mind, you can show me your own posts as well. I would hope you write some posts that you feel are exceptional; otherwise, why are you posting? With the many things I have going on both here on SteemIt and away from here, I will miss a lot of great posts. I would love to be able to discover the ones you think are great even when I miss them.
To make it easier for everyone to show me the posts they think are great, I will be posting once a week about it and asking you to send me the links in the comment section so they are easy for me to find and keep track of. If you'd like, you can also message me on Discord @randomwanderings #9929 . Again, even the ones that won't work for Curie but are great will be eligible to go into the weekly reward post once I get that started.
Please feel free to send me any questions or suggestions. I have rambled on long enough, now go enjoy the rest of your weekend!
