Always be grateful for what I have now. December 16, 2025
Hello everyone.
Today I want to share a brief story from my day. Yesterday, we couldn't access the internet at all in the evacuation center, and the electricity was out all day. Last Monday, we were very anxious because aid hadn't arrived at our evacuation center. The electricity was also out, and we were forced to make do with what we could at the evacuation center in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, Indonesia.
And on the day after, we suddenly got some internet access thanks to the government's Starlink internet assistance. We were very happy, even though we only had internet access for a few hours. Then I searched for a higher altitude to try to get a normal connection, but unfortunately, the network remained unstable.
I tried to contact my older sister in North Aceh and my relatives in East Aceh. It turned out to be even more dire there, with food aid often not being provided. In fact, only one aid package arrived every week. I was incredibly saddened to hear from my older sister in North Aceh. The economic crisis there was even worse, and all the houses had completely collapsed.
I hope my relatives can build a makeshift home, as all the housing there has completely collapsed. On Tuesday morning, I received food aid, providing each person with a box of instant noodles and rice. This morning, I and my friends at the evacuation center enjoyed the food provided by local aid.
When I'm anxious, I always try to stay calm and patient. I think everything will be fine, but many things make me sad and helpless, because the conditions and circumstances here are truly not okay. We can only be patient and grateful.

Every afternoon, twice a Sunday, the food aid evacuation teams come to appeal for donations and assistance from other countries, such as Malaysia and other Asian countries. We're delighted to see them come because they're so welcoming. They also include students who volunteer to help with the food aid drive in Aceh Tamiang.
We're very entertained every time they come, as we never get bored here. We sometimes help them collect aid in plastic bags to distribute to everyone in the evacuation center.
We here sincerely hope that the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) team and others will always care for us. We also sincerely hope to have internet access and electricity every day. We believe that having internet access for a few hours doesn't make us happy, as we need more time to do important things like contact family and other relatives.
