Always excited to find new variations every day. January 7, 2026
Hello everyone.
Today, my friends and I at the refugee camp headed to the highlands, where we, as refugees, usually fetch water from the highland river. Every few days, we sometimes go to the highland river in the morning to clean ourselves and do other essential things, like washing clothes and cooking utensils. It's been raining heavily overnight recently, so we're making sure the river water is getting cleaner.
I explained this in my previous post, as this river is one of the cleaner water sources compared to other rivers. However, local residents say the other rivers also had clean water, but that was before the flood. Therefore, some of the other rivers are muddy, except for this one, which is rocky and not very deep.
We walked with friends and other displaced residents, a long walk of several tens of meters from our location. Furthermore, every time we went, we always brought breakfast supplies in our bags or plastic bags. We enjoyed the food there while we were hungry. Like today, we received lunch boxes from the aid program, and we each brought our own food.
We usually went at specific times, sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon. But we often went in the morning while we were cleaning ourselves in the river. After doing things like washing our clothes and eating breakfast, when the sun was about to rise and the weather was warm, we immediately returned home. Some residents also brought river water home in buckets to boil and use for other needs.

Children around the refugee camp area. The children here are always actively playing and looking for entertainment with their friends. They play with their friends, it's really fun, sometimes they forget time to have breakfast, so their mothers look for them to continue their lunch time. sometimes I feel that in the midst of the excitement of playing with friends, they don't open up to each other, hehehe, I'm very happy even though the conditions and situation here are still getting worse, I myself am happy to see them happy.
There are also those in the afternoon, they are busy catching small fish on the edge of the water collection near the roads around the refugee area. This is because when it rains at night, the rainwater will collect in small gutters so that small fish from the rice fields gather in the water gutters, they are very negligent in catching the rice field fish.

It's getting darker, and there's a possibility of a power outage tonight. We hope the electricity from the aid will be turned on, and the internet will be using the Starlink network so that evacuees in the highlands can enjoy meals by the light of the lamps provided.
Dusk is beginning to set in, and nightfall will soon be approaching. Every night, we try to entertain ourselves as much as possible with our friends. Lately, I've been feeling sad at night. It's so quiet here. If we try to entertain ourselves, like roasting sweet potatoes and corn, we'll feel happy and comfortable even when the power is out. This keeps us from being reminded of the things that make us sad.
