In a situation like this, it is not wrong to always try to find new variations in our daily lives. January 8, 2026

Hello everyone.

Good morning, friends. Today I want to share a little about my activities at our refugee camp in the Aceh Tamiang highlands. We're here this morning, wanting to go to the highlands. Besides, I haven't exercised in the morning for a few days. Since the floods last month, I've rarely gone for morning walks here. I took morning walks alone to get some fresh air and get some sun.

In the photo, I used a friend's cell phone, because my cell phone ran out of battery due to the electricity going out last night in our refugee camp and the network was not working properly.

I didn't go far from the refugee camp. After breakfast of bread and hot tea, I brought a drink in a jar and exercised around the highlands. Because my body hasn't exercised much, I felt overwhelmed after just walking a few meters. This is what it feels like when I exercise for the first time: my body aches.

I don't know whether it was twenty meters ahead or 30 meters ahead. I finally stopped at the edge of the rice field, because I was already feeling so tired, and the sun was already brighter because it was approaching 10:00 am. When I sat on the edge of the rice field to rest, I felt like I couldn't go home anymore because the weather was already so bright, Luckily I brought drinks from the refugee camp, after I drank and rested for a few minutes, I continued back to the refugee camp.

At 15:00 p.m., my friends in the refugee camp were grinding red chilies for a dish. The residents here at our refugee camp grind the chilies with a traditional tool, a wide stone, known in our language as "Batu Seumepeh." Since we don't have a spice grinder, we use our ancestors' traditional tools.

Every afternoon and evening, we in the refugee camp are busy making spices and cooking with the other residents. We remain united and prosperous in the face of the current situation in Aceh, Indonesia. Although we have rarely received food aid lately, we refuse to give up and make every effort to go to the rice fields to forage for edible ingredients and forest fruits.

Facing a situation like this isn't easy. As we said earlier, we're always grateful for what we have. Likewise, even though our daily breakfast isn't delicious, we're always grateful. Rather than starving, the important thing is that we can enjoy it. 5:00 PM was our breakfast time. Some ate together at the refugee camp, others ate on the edge of the forest or in the rice fields. Enjoying the food there really lifted my mood.
