in #newcomer8 months ago (edited)

Hello my wonderful steemit family, I have been very ill for long and currently at the hospital. I will be discharged soon, special appreciation to my mentor @zekanem for checking up on me.
Today I will be writing on making smart choices. Have a good read mh dears.

We all face tough decisions in life, and how we approach them says a lot about who we are as people. Do we go with our feelings and heart's desires? Or do we look at things reasonably and choose with our clear-thinking minds? Personally, I believe using the mind leads to way better decisions than letting emotions control us.
Sure, there's something to be said for following your heart and passions. People who decide based purely on emotion and insight are "being true to themselves" in the moment. They simply pursue whatever feels right emotionally, without overthinking it. While this pattern of decision making lets people stay in touch with their real selves, it also means choices get made recklessly and unreasonably, without considering long-term consequences.

On the other hand, approaching decisions with a practical, intellectual mindset means carefully thinking things through from all angles before deciding. Using your brain means considering the facts, seeing both benefits and drawbacks, and carefully figuring out how different choices could turn out. Reasoning and critical thinking are the best methods in making a good decision, rather than just making decisions based on your emotions or how you feel.

The truth is, our hearts and emotions can fool us and cloud our better judgment sometimes.
Personally, I try my best to always be a logical and reasonable decision-maker who thinks things through, instead of just going by mere thoughts or feeling.

For young people facing major life crossroads, I really encourage developing sharp critical thinking abilities and self-disciplined logic - and then actually using that brilliant mind of yours when making decisions! Don't just go by how you feel. Careful reasoning and critical thinking may not always be exciting, but it prevents so many poor choices and regrets down the line. Use your head to make smart moves, not your heart.
