SECURE YOUR STEEMIT ACCOUNT : ACHIEVEMENT 2

Today I am sharing my third post on Steemit which is about Achievement 2. Understanding security on Steemit is the most important thing for every user. I have learned that if I do not keep my keys safe my account can be in danger.
​In this post I will explain everything I have learned about Steemit security and keys.

Importance Of Steemit Keys

​The first thing I learned is that Steemit is different from other social media sites. Here if you lose your password you cannot recover it easily. Our keys are our real wealth and we must protect them at any cost.

Question 1: Have I saved all my keys?

​Yes I have saved all my keys very safely. I have saved them in a private file and I also took a print out of my keys. I have kept this paper in a safe place so if my phone or laptop has any problem I will still have my keys. I have not saved them on any public website.
​

Question 2: Do I know the functions of each key?

​Yes I now clearly understand the difference between all the keys and their uses.
​ I will use this key for daily login to my account. With this key I can make posts and write comments. I can also give upvotes to other users.
​ This key is for wallet related tasks. When I want to transfer money or do power up manually I will need this Active Key.
​ This is the most powerful key. If my account is ever hacked I can use this key to recover my account and change all other keys.
​ The purpose of this key is to read private messages that are sent during wallet transfers.
​

Question 3: How will I keep my Master Password safe?

​The Master Password is like the main key of a house. It can generate all other keys. I will never share my Master Password with anyone. I have kept it in a very secret place and I will not tell this password to anyone because it is very sensitive.

Question 4: How to transfer Steem?

​I have learned how to transfer Steem in the wallet section. We need to enter the username of the other person and the amount. Then we need the Active Key to complete the transfer. I have checked this process in my wallet and I understand it now.

Question 5: How to do Power Up?

​I have also learned about the Power Up process which is necessary for account growth. I have already set my post rewards to 100% Power Up. Also I know that if I want to Power Up my liquid STEEM from the wallet I will need my Active Key. This will increase my voting power and make my account strong.

My Experience So Far

​My journey on Steemit has been very good so far. My first post got a good response and my reputation score is now 37. I hope that after this third post I will learn more things and become an active member of this community.
