An article that showcases how stupid both Yahoo News and their readers are
Yahoo News is right there at the bottom of the heap as far as trash news networks are concerned. I have said many times before that I don't understand why they bother to continue because they certainly don't have respect in the journalism world but then again, who does?

Normally Yahoo serves merely as a news aggregate site that features mostly left-leaning viewpoints. When they bother to write about politics it is also left-leaning and this is no surprise. I wonder if those on the left just consume click-bait news more than those on the right? Nah, forget that, both sets of consumers are equally dumb.
But every now and then Yahoo decides to step away from politics and feature "regular stories" and as you might expect, they aren't exactly the "crème de la crème." I don't think anyone expects a news aggregate site that would feature The Daily Beast and other such nonsensical sites would be good at writing anything themselves, but every now and then Yahoo will post something so out there, so rage-baity that I don't think it is real. This is the case with a recent "news story" that they penned that just boggles the mind.

With all that is going on in the world right now do you really think that this is news that should be featured on an international news site? What is going on here?
The thing is, the Mom in question isn't someone famous or influential either, it's just some pissed of lady on Twitter who happened to get some traction somehow.
All it is, is a puff-piece about how a Mom was kind of pissed off about how her mother in law had a conversation with her daughter about how the daughter might not be cut out for college life. I personally feel as though this is a fair point for a kid that already isn't performing well in school and it reminded me of this girl I knew in high school that was so obsessed with being in the FBI that she had custom made license plates that said "FBI-2B." The problem with this girl was that she was a C-level student at best, and she was also into drinking, drugs, and just being a general fuckup... Kind of the opposite of what the FBI would ever be looking for.
This mother-in-law isn't necessarily wrong either and there are some moms out there that probably give their kids delusional praise. By the story's own admission the child in question performs very poorly at school.
That's not really the point of why I am featuring the article in question though.

The reason why I am talking about it is because this article, which is over 1200 words long, showcases how basically anything is news these days and when everything is news, nothing is.
This is a private matter between family members and how one of them decided to take it to the internet rather than settle it themselves. I think that should be the real story here: how society at large is so addicted to social media that they will make very private things public in order to sort of drum up unnecessary support for their lives and are probably very hopeful that somehow, just somehow, they can end up going viral.
A puff piece like this, I would expect it would just be a drive-by for most folks but the comments section is just wild and filled with people that are trying, yet again, to make the story about themselves as they shed their words of wisdom onto the masses with the hopes of getting some "thumbs up" votes in the process.

230 comments and all of them are basically redirects so that the person in the comments can talk about their own life. To make things even funnier, there are a lot of people in the comments that are trying to sound like experts on education while forgetting that the word "too", meaning "as well" or "more than" has a second "o" in it.
Then, just like you would expect, there are many catfights in the comments as well with people giving a thumbs down to anyone that has a different opinion than they do. I suppose this article is just a micro version of the social media world as a whole: stupid discussions that don't mean anything followed sanctimonious, holier-than-thou, comments followed by a bunch of unnecessary fights and name-calling.
I'm not surprised that Yahoo would feature rage-bait BS articles that don't really have a story and encourages people to fight in the comments though, that is really their only business model.
