How can you claim to be supporting democracy when you are in fact actually subverting the democratic process in other countries as well as your own. JFK is a great example of domestic regime change most likely wrought by the CIA. After the Bay of Pigs disaster JFK made it clear he wanted to clean up the CIA. That idea did not go very far.
No amount of talking is going to get the government back its credibility.
