Telangana became the first state to notify the classification of scheduled castes.

Governor Jishnu Dev Verma gave his consent to the bill on 8 April 2025.
Commission work:
Following the Supreme Court's historic verdict on August 1, 2024, the Commission appointed in October 2024 received a detailed analysis of more than 8,600 representations and population distribution, literacy level, higher education entry, employment trends, financial assistance and political participation.
The Commission's period was extended by a month to address the concerns raised by several communities, ensuring that every voice was heard before the report was finalized.
Political importance:

The Cabinet Sub-Committee rejected the Commission's recommendation to start a creamy layer within the SC category, ensuring that no existing profit would be thin and all SC groups were designed to increase fairness by protecting the rights of all SC groups.
This implementation is an important step towards addressing specific socio-economic and educational losses faced by various SC communities in Telangana, which is an example for other states.
