Aslyum seekers ( who are not illegal immigrants) who arrive at border deserve due process before getting accepted/rejected.
While they were waiting for the processing there was no additional need for inflicting trauma on the little kids.
I also have not seen any proof that it actually was done at a port of entry. If they choose to crawl through the window rather than go through the door that is a big difference.
