What will you do when you will be asked for nude pics to unlock your files?
I have already heard about a ransomware scam that asks for bitcoin to unlock files. But this is first time I heard about ransomware scams that are asking users to play video games or to send their nude pictures to get their file access. This is interesting news that hackers are changing their demand pattern.
A new type of ransomware called “Dubbed nRansomware” asked users for their nude pictures and also explained in his note how to send those pics to hackers. This message has been revealed by MalwareHunterTeam, a security researcher, who actually detected this kind of ransomware.
The note says, “A victim needs a special type of code that can only unlock his file.” In order to get their file access, they will have to open an email account on ProtonMail, which is known as the biggest email encryption service provider worldwide. Two million users are already using this email encryption service.
After creating an email account, they will have to send at least 10 nude images of themselves to this email Id: 1_kill_yourself_1@protonmail.com. This is not the end. They will examine the pictures sent by the victims. If they will find the pictures don't belong to real users, they will not send the unlock code. If they find all the data are real, they will trade those data on the Deep Web and the unlock code will be sent to the users.
This is identified as “Troj.W32.Inject.tnKf” which is malicious software, according to Kaspersky. It can not only delete, modify, block or duplicate file data, but also can interrupt your computer performance or network.
The security researcher engaged in detecting this malicious software said that
“It is a screen locker, so files aren’t encrypted. “We have no information about anyone getting infected with this.”
The users are advised not to open any type of spam email and be careful while downloading any attachments from email or free software from any site. You must run scan before downloading any free software as it can have this type of malicious software. Think before clicking on any suspicious email as it can be harmful for your computer. So be careful.
