Can cities use blockchain to promote transparency in music?

Yes - they can - or bettr - THEY could! New York and Estonia show how in different areas - but both could be a role-model for the music industry. LinkNYC is one of them - target was to provide free information to all New Yorkers and visitors, regardless of where one was or how much money they had. A service accessible for everybody, helpful and transparent.

Estonia recently launched an e-residency business programme to recruit entrepreneurs registering their company to pay taxes in Estonia on their profits. No physical presence in the country required - paperwork could be done online, tax incentives were included.

This could be a role model for the music industry as the the way music is bought, sold and transferred is a bit similar as smart cities problems. Music challenge is that deals and money usually discussed behind curtains. Now many people have moved to streaming services, such as Spotify but there is still n no standard rate who a music track is paid via the internet per stream. Tons of different service models and pricing.

The ideal scenario is to get a e-residency for copyright and a LinkNYC for music. A first step in the right direction was the acquisition of blockchain company Mediachain by Spotify. Both examples above would remove barriers and create transparency of products / songs to everybody. So what about Tallinn (Estonia's capital) and New York City will become the first music transparent cities?
