🗞 Losses on the stock exchanges: Tillerson sacking unsettles investors
The fact that US President Trump has dismissed his foreign minister also causes concern on the stock exchanges. Under Pompeo's successors, investors seem to fear new crises.
The dismissal of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson by President Donald Trump has caused uncertainty on stock exchanges in the US and Europe. The Dow Jones lost its initial gains of up to 0.8 percent completely. The German DAX just followed that trend and went down 1.59%
With Tillerson another representative with a moderate view has left the White House.
Although the Tillerson dismissal comes as no surprise, a dealer said. But it shows the many uncertainties in the administration of President Donald Trump. Tillerson's successor will be current CIA director Mike Pompeo. He is regarded as strong conservative and is entirely on Trump's hard line in Iran and North Korea - two geopolitical hot spots that can burden the financial markets again and again.
Trump is also the reason for other price changes on the US's standings: Qualcomm lost more than four percent after the US president blocked the planned hostile takeover of the handheld chip maker by its Singapore-based rival Broadcom for $117 billion for national security reasons. Broadcom shares gained slightly.
