Accurate portrayals of super heroes are now racist
The Mary Sue once again shows us their brilliant journalistic skills, and like 99.9% of all their other articles on their website, they get it completely and utterly wrong. The Mary Sue is so desperately trying to find racism where there is none, it isn’t even funny. Why can’t publications like The Mary Sue not separate the costuming from the skin color of the actress? Racism isn’t gonna end when people try to find racism in everything. The fans of the Teen Titans franchise have taken issue with the aesthetic presented, not with the race of the actress. How hard is that to grasp? In most of these stories being published, I see thousands of people bitching about people complaining, but I have seen zero people complaining about the skin color of the actress.
This is Starfire from the Comic Book:
This is Starfire from the animated TV Show:
This is Starfire from the DC animated movies:
And this is Starfire from the new Live Action show:
See where I am going with this? Starfire looks like an 80’s hooker straight out of a low budget slasher movie. How did they get it this wrong? I mean if cosplayers can get it right with a limited budget and resources how can a studio with millions of dollars and unlimited resources:
It says something about the quality of your show when a cosplayer has a better design than the shows costume designers. And it is not only Starfire that looks bad. Beast boy and Robin look bad too. The whole show looks bad, Beast Boy and Raven look like a bunch of punk rockers straight out of the 90’s. I find it incredibly ironic that the same people who can’t seem to shut up when a fictional character has large breasts or wears revealing outfits are now so eager to tell people complaining about a fictional character that they are now racist and should shut-up. Look at Domino in Deadpool 2, in the comics she has snow white skin and a black spot around her eye. In the movie, she is black with a white spot. But her costume and most importantly her attitude was Domino and she was awesome. No one complained, but this looks like pure garbage…
[Editorial Note:] Takes a very attractive black woman and dresses her like a $5 hooker: “Oh my god why are people so racist?” It’s a classic deflect because at the end of the day they know they fucked it up…
