AI can doctor videos to put words in the mouths of speakers.

Artificial intelligence can put words right into your mouth. A new system takes a still image of a person and an audio clip, and uses them to create a doctored video of the person speaking the audio. The results are still a little rough around the edges, but the software could soon make realistically fake videos only a single click away.
It works by first identifying facial features using face-recognition algorithms. As the audio clip plays, the system then manipulates the mouth of the person in the still image so that it looks as if they are speaking. Very little pre-processing is required, so all of this can be done in real time.
“The application we’re thinking of is redubbing a video into another language,” says Joon Son Chung at University of Oxford, one of the creators of the system. In the future, the audio from news clips could be automatically translated into another language and the images updated to fit.
This isn’t the first system to automatically adjust images to new audio, but others have needed large amounts of video to work. They would pair up the way a person’s mouth moved when they made different sounds and then use that part of the image in edited footage.

As much as the media hates Trump I wouldn't doubt they would have used this to there advantage.
I don't say that/when they have or will use it .. Just that they CAN! ;)

Actually, it is not at all certain that Trump did make fun of the disabled reporter. If one bothers to watch Trump's rally speeches (I recommend doing so with the volume off, so one can focus on the body language instead of the words), one quickly discovers it is his habit to wave his hands and arms around. On the other hand, calling a person suffering cerebral palsy a "cripple" is incredibly insensitive.
Actually he wasn't waving his hands, this is what he said about the incident:
Mr. Trump, whose statement repeatedly criticized The Times, insisted that he “merely mimicked what I thought would be a flustered reporter trying to get out of a statement he made long ago.” He said that if “Mr. Kovaleski is handicapped, I would not know because I do not know what he looks like. If I did know, I would definitely not say anything about his appearance.”
So he was referring to the journalist specifically, his intention for doing so of course are only his to know.
yup..the media did it (trump was the victim) with their video manipulation technology. they should be ashamed.
Reminds me of a book "Killing Time" written in 2000 by Caleb Carr who wrote the popular book The Alienist, about a future 2023 where things were manipulated to such an extent that you could not tell what was real/fake. Upvoted
