An Engineer's eye: sketching.

"Greetings, Steemit community! As an engineering student, I often find that I don't just see buildings or bridges; I see forces, tension, and design logic. For this week's 'Our Surroundings' challenge, I decided to take my sketchbook outside and document the infrastructure that keeps our local area moving."
The Experience: A Walk to the Bridge
"Today, I spent some time near the library. While most people see a way to get from point A to point B, I spent my time looking at the cabling and the support pillars.
I sat down to capture the scene, but not just as a picture. I wanted to break it down into a technical sketch. There is something incredibly grounding about translating a massive concrete structure into precise lines on paper. It reminds me that everything around us—the roads we walk on and the lights that guide us—started as a simple idea on a page."
Technical Insight
"While sketching, I was thinking about the load-bearing capacity of the pylons. In my studies at LASUSTECH, we talk a lot about the theory of these structures, but seeing the weathering on the concrete and the vibration of the cars overhead brings those lessons to life. It’s a reminder that engineering isn't just in textbooks; it’s the skeleton of our daily lives."
Conclusion
"Our surroundings are more than just scenery; they are feats of human ingenuity. I hope this sketch gives you a new way to look at the 'ordinary' structures in your own neighborhood.
