I was not really a fan of Nigerian movies untill I saw Banana Island Ghost and the likes. Eventhough this movie is a 2018 movie. It's still one of the best movies I've seen this year (2020).

The movie is centered around this young man (in his thirties) named Bassey Otuekong.

He is a wayward son to a rich billionaire father.

His father wants him to take over his business and get married to a girl he barely knows.
His father project him to be less of a man and decides to make him or force him into one by sending him "up North(Bauchi State, Nigeria)" for a 1 year program called "NYSC' Which is a compulsory requirement for every Nigerian or foreign graduate looking to work in the country.
As much as this program is flexible for the rich (i.e paying bribe/cutting corners) to get the Nysc certificate. Basseys father, Chief Otuekong wants him to pass through the system and refuses to influence the system to favour his son.

The original pupose of this Journey is to punish him for his arrogance and waywardness. It is also intended that he would learn the hard way and become a better man.

This intentions yield good results, as he becomes more than the man he ever imagined.

He turns down all his fater has to offer him and chooses a part for himself, which included forfeiting his fathers fortune, going back Up North to be with a girl he loves, Working as a Jornalist for an international telivision station etc.

I know this might sound like a pretty basic story but trust me there is more to the story than this short narration.
It is a movie that I recommend especially during this period of boredom.
