SC-S29/W2- Nostalgia Of The Liitle Me : My School Days
Hello my friends,
My school picture takan from google free pictures
A moment that changed my school life
My father was a government agricultural officer, and he was transferred every two or three years. Our family only stayed in any city for two or three years. This time, my father was transferred to my current city. My previous school was English medium, but this new school, where I was admitted in 8th grade, was Hindi medium. It was my first day at the new school; the school was very big, and I was nervous. I didn't know anyone in my class. I was given a seat in the back row.
The first period was Math, which was my favorite subject. I always got the highest marks in Math; I knew the math problems by heart. But on that very first day, the Math teacher, seeing me as a newcomer, gave me a math problem and asked me to solve it. He used the words "nafi" for minus and "jama" for plus, but I didn't understand his Urdu-mixed language. I didn't even understand the question, so how could I solve it?
After about 20 minutes, the teacher asked to see my solution, but my notebook was empty. The teacher slapped me in front of the whole class and said, "You don't even know basic problems, where did you come from?" My face turned red with shame, and without fear, I asked, "What are 'jama' and 'nafi'?" He understood that I was from an English medium school. He asked me to solve any problem from the book. I solved a problem written on the last page of the book, he was very impressed, apologized, and asked me to sit in the front row. This experience, even after 50 years, remains etched in my heart.
Describe how you felt as a student
This city and school were very new to us. The language and behavior of the people were very different. I didn't make friends easily. My father kept us all under very strict discipline. The school environment was very open. There were 60 students in my class, and the entire school had about 2000 students (from 6th to 12th grade). During breaks, it felt like a storm had hit. Initially, I had a lot of difficulty adjusting to the environment. I was constantly afraid. The boys used very foul language, while we came from the refined culture of Lucknow. After a few months, everything became normal.
Any friend or teacher who meant a lot to you?
I had a very close friend in school. Coincidentally, we also lived as tenants in his house. He was very intelligent, cheerful, wealthy, and understanding. He always protected me from bullies, and he helped me whenever I needed it. He made me mentally strong. Back then, my friend had a very modern and special bicycle, and many boys at school longed to have one like it; I was one of them. After we became friends, he would sometimes let me ride his bicycle.
A mistake or lesson from school life?
I studied science subjects until high school, but one day in the biology lab, while dissecting a frog, I accidentally cut the frog's artery with a scalpel, and the dissection tray filled with the frog's blood. That's when I decided I wouldn't study biology anymore, and I took commerce subjects in intermediate college. However, I failed in 12th grade. After this experience, I started studying with much more responsibility and dedication, and I adopted that same responsibility and dedication in my life. This gave me a new sense of confidence.
Reflect on how those school days contributed to making you who you are today.
As I mentioned earlier, my father was a very disciplined person. He didn't give us pocket money, which made my siblings and me feel deprived during our school days. However, this lack of money instilled in me a new belief: that there is no respect in society without wealth. Therefore, after completing my intermediate studies, I took the initiative to do some part-time jobs and continued my graduation. Now I could spend my earned money on my friends. This confidence completely transformed my character. My desire to earn money turned into a passion, and I have earned a lot of money throughout my life, and I am still working.

Greetings,
Thank you so much for participating in the contest.
Receiving a math problem to solve from the teacher on the very first day of school, and then being punished by the teacher, was truly a difficult experience. It is the kind of incident that stays in one’s memory for a lifetime.
When you attend a school with a large number of students, there is naturally a wide mix of languages and cultures. For a young child from a well-mannered family, adjusting to such an environment can be quite challenging at first. However, you adapted to it remarkably well.
Finding friends at school who stood by you and helped protect you from bullying is truly a matter of good fortune. You honestly admitted the mistakes you made during your school life and learned to value your own choices, which helped you become more sincere and grounded in life.
In my opinion, it would have been better to add the source of the image, even though it is copyright-free.
