A day in the life : Day 627

I ended the day reading about the latest AI developments, and it is getting harder to keep track of everything. Google released Gemini 3.7 Flash yesterday, with a focus on coding and agents. There is also a lot of movement around AI infrastructure. South Korea reported a huge jump in ICT exports because of demand linked to AI, while L&T picked up a major AI data centre contract. It is becoming clear that this trend is now reaching the less visible parts of technology too, like servers, cooling and power.

My own day was much less exciting. I had planned to finish a small task before lunch, but one missing piece of information turned it into a much longer job. I spent almost an hour looking through old notes and messages. The funny part was that I had written the answer down myself a few days ago. I simply forgot where I put it.

The weather stayed wet and cloudy for most of the day. I actually enjoyed it. I made some tea, had a simple meal and spent a little time looking outside instead of staring at another screen. I have been trying to keep meals lighter lately too. Heavy food during rainy days makes me feel slower than usual.

One thing I noticed today is how quickly AI has moved from being a software story to an infrastructure story. Everyone talks about models, but someone still has to build the machines, data centres and networks underneath them.

That was probably my main thought for the day. Technology changes quickly, but the boring practical work behind it still matters.

Now I am calling it a night. Tomorrow can deal with itself for a few hours.
