A day in the life : Day 630

Today I came across the news that an AI voice startup called Wispr raised $280 million at a $2 billion valuation. What caught my attention was that the company is working on making speaking to computers more useful, rather than simply improving another chatbot. It seems voice AI is slowly becoming a serious area of its own.

I actually noticed how useful voice can be today while doing some routine work. I had a few thoughts that I needed to write down, but I was too lazy to stop what I was doing and type them. I ended up recording them on my phone. It was faster, although I later had to clean up the strange sentences produced by speech recognition.

My little problem for the day came from the kitchen. I bought a few vegetables thinking I would cook them later, then completely forgot about them. By evening I remembered, checked the fridge and found them sitting there looking rather disappointed. I made dinner with them anyway. At least nothing went to waste.

The monsoon weather has been pleasant lately. There was a good spell of rain in the afternoon, followed by cooler air in the evening. I have been drinking more warm tea and eating simpler meals because of it. Somehow rainy weather makes me less interested in ordering something complicated.

Another trend I noticed today is how much attention companies are giving to AI agents that can actually perform tasks. Financial institutions are looking at them for things like customer service, fraud detection and internal workflows. That feels more practical than simply asking an AI to write another paragraph.

Nothing dramatic happened today, which is probably a good thing. I got some useful work done, rescued my vegetables from the fridge, and learned a little about where technology is heading. That is enough for one day.
