A day in the life : Day 631

One thing that caught my attention today was a report about ISRO experts discussing how AI and machine learning could be used directly inside future satellites. The idea is that satellites could process some information while still in space instead of sending everything back to Earth first. That could make decisions faster, especially for disaster management and other situations where time matters.

I like seeing AI move into areas where it has a practical purpose. It is easy to get tired of hearing about another chatbot or another model with slightly better scores. Putting AI into satellites feels like a different kind of progress.

My own day had a rather silly problem. I spent a good part of the afternoon looking for something I needed, only to discover that I had moved it earlier because I wanted to keep the place organised. I apparently succeeded so well that I could not find my own system. I eventually gave up searching, started doing something else, and found it ten minutes later.

The monsoon is still making its presence known. The weather has been pleasant between the heavier spells of rain, although I have started keeping an umbrella within reach again. Food has also been fairly simple lately. Warm meals seem much more suitable when the weather stays damp.

Another interesting thing I noticed is that AI infrastructure is becoming a bigger story than AI software itself. Lenovo's latest results showed very strong growth in its infrastructure business, which is another sign that companies are spending heavily on the physical systems needed to run all these AI services.

It was a reasonably good day. I finished what actually needed finishing, laughed at my own organisational failure, and learned something interesting about satellites. I will take that as a decent day's work.
