A day in the life : Day 652

I saw an interesting bit of news today about AI agents possibly being allowed to make UPI payments for users. The idea is that an assistant could eventually handle things like bill payments or recharges after the user gives permission and sets limits. I am curious about this because payments are already such a normal part of daily life here. If agents become reliable enough, asking an assistant to pay a bill may eventually feel as normal as opening a banking app.

Another thing caught my attention. Indian companies are increasing their spending on AI quite quickly, but many are still working out the basics of governance, data quality and how to connect AI with older systems. That sounds about right. Buying access to an AI system is easy. Making it useful inside a real organisation is a different problem.

My own problem today was much less impressive. I had an appointment in the afternoon and left home earlier than necessary because I did not want to be late. Naturally, I arrived far too early and spent almost forty minutes sitting around. I could have stayed home longer and still made it comfortably.

The weather was a little warmer today, although there were still plenty of clouds around. The monsoon seems to be slowly changing, so I have started expecting more dry periods. I kept food simple and had a proper dinner instead of picking at snacks throughout the evening.

I also spent some time cleaning up my desk. There were several small things sitting around that had no reason to be there anymore. It did not take long once I started.

The day was fairly ordinary. I learned something interesting about where digital payments could be heading, wasted some time by arriving too early, and ended up with a cleaner desk.

I will probably still leave home too early next time. Some habits take longer to fix than messy desks.
