Been a while I try this technique and that was only once. Using vertical strokes all through to create some features.
Today, I decided to give it a try once again.

It was difficult and my hand was stiff when I started out. I was even temted to use cross hatching.

Then gradually my fingers and brain became accustomed to the pattern.

Here is the final outcome.
