Outside, a light drizzle falls, leaving the streets nearly deserted, with only a few solitary umbrellas drifting slowly. On my phone screen, news of Ethereum's sharp decline flashes, my account balance now reduced to three digits. The external gloom mirrors my personal downfall.
I refuse to accept this outcome. Why have I failed so utterly?
From a diligent student in a small town to gaining admission to Wuhan University, then becoming a graduate student at the University of Hong Kong, I worked tirelessly at every stage. Yet now, I've lost it all.
Last year, I quit my job and plunged into the crypto world with 200,000 yuan saved over eighteen months. Initially, everything seemed promising. Monitoring the market daily, researching projects, and analyzing trends felt liberating compared to employment, as I was working for myself. During that period, I earned profits and connected with a group of friends, sharing opportunities and enjoying time together.
From the start to year's end, my performance was strong, accumulating over a million yuan, but I never withdrew any funds. By December, I lost my rhythm in the market's competitive dynamics and predicted a surge in altcoins, leading me to bottom-fish BOME. I dreamed of replicating last year's PEPE miracle, buying from 0.008 down to 0.003, but this morning's crash liquidated my position. My leverage was modest, less than 3x.
I bet everything, yet still lost it all.
More ironically, I involved my parents in bottom-fishing, buying $bome from 0.004 down to 0.003, and today it has nearly halved. I could bear my own loss, but dragging my parents down makes me feel like a complete failure. Sigh.
