Tokyo Olympics 2020\2021

in #olympics3 years ago

The Tokyo Olympics are well and truly underway, after a year's delay, and a will they won't they happen scenario that seemed to stretch on endlessly. The winners of the early competitions have been taking to the podiums to accept their medals after their years of hard work has finally paid of.

So far its been an interesting games, with some surprise wins and some drama. Simone Biles, an almost guaranteed medal hopeful, quit just one competition into the team gymnastics event and then pulled out of the olympics all together. Her teammate Sunisa Lee then won gold in the all round competion. The Chinese 4x200 freestyle female relay team, who before the race were not expected to be in contention, won gold, and in the process broke the world record. Katinka Hosszu and Sarah Sjostrom, who both dominated at the Rio games, winning a combined 11 medals between them and breaking three world records, failed to secure a single medal in Toyko.

We are now heading into my favourite portion of the games, the Athletics track and field events. The female 400m hurdles is an exciting prospect, with Sydney Mclaughlin and Dalilah Muhammed going head to head in the next collision of their epic rivalry. The world record has been broke on countless occasions when these two collide, and could very well go again, throw into the mix the up and coming dutch athlete Femke Bol and their could be fireworks.
