Niche Blogging Journey

in #onlinewriting6 years ago (edited)

I realized my talent for writing before I realized there was so much potential in earning through writing on the web space. Ever since I was able to put those two together, I have participated in a handful of writing platforms.

I have seen small platforms, massive platforms, creative platforms, not-so-creative platforms and everything in between. One thing that all these platforms had was lack of strategy to sustain to the future. Most of these micro-blogging or niche-blogging platforms failed in the long run. A few have withstood the test of time, but barely the evolution of Google.

Why have these sites failed?
One reason was the lack of control over who could join on to the platform. If the platform is open for the masses to join, bots sneak in and it all goes down thereafter. Hence, a strick gate lock should be implemented to control the unnecessary influx of masses.

Another reason would be the lack of a sustainable growth model. Bringing in new people and expanding the number of micro-blogs is not going to win the favor of Google. Some quality articles should be encouraged on the platform. News, entertainment, sports, movie reviews etc are good avenues for attracting the viewers. Ad revenue should flow into the platform from outside the community on the platform. Else, Google is not going to love the platform.

It is difficult to predict what kind of changes the Internet or Google will undergo in the years to come. But one thing that Google has constantly loved over the years is quality content.

Let us contribute towards making this platform great and last!
