Media response to Barr's announcement - the continuing circus

in #opinion6 years ago

The whole Russian collusion thing has become more of a joke to me than anything else. The web of lies and what if's that continues from the absurd media doesn't seem to have an end in sight. When Attorney General William Bar made his announcement yesterday the media response was as predictable as a Transformer movie storyline.

I do know that to most of the people who were watching this thing unfold, if they were being honest they would admit that they don't really care if Russians, North Koreans, or even the Spanish Inquisition interfered in the US presidential election... they just know they have an intense hatred for Donald Trump and therefore will grasp at anything that potentially makes him look bad.

However, right on cue, when Barr comes out and calmly reports that after a 2 year investigation that they found "nada" the liberal media sources cried foul and the conservative ones cried "nah'nanny boo-boo!"

Social media is even worse. People are getting into heated arguments with strangers, horrible baseless things are said, and of course there is a spattering of really clever trolling going on. I have to admit that while i do not participate by posting (because I have enough pointless activities in my life already) I do look through the comments to see what sort of brain-dead comments are made by both sides.

Someone was saying the other day on one particular thread that "Politics is more divided today than EVER BEFORE!" and to that I say nonsense. At least in America in my lifetime, the political divide has been damn-near 50%. Remember that guy Bill Clinton that everyone loved? Well, he barely won. Ronald Reagan won by a mile his second time, but the first was a different and very close affair. The last time a president won convincingly was Richard Nixon and we all remember what happened to that guy. The difference is not the political landscape, the difference is the existence of social media. We used to have to wait until the holidays to get into pointless political arguments with distant family members but now we can do it any time we want!

As predictable as The Rock emerging victorious in any film he is in, these two scary looking clowns emerged right after the Barr report / interview to say that more investigation is necessary because we all know they are never going to give up until they get what they want - even if there is nothing there to get.

If Trump behaved inappropriately during his campaign really doesn't matter to me and it wouldn't surprise me. All politics are corrupt to the core and I find it more disturbing that any of these ass hats would try to appear as though they are puritans while attempting to point the finger at anyone else.

The media is a joke. I don't know if I have seen any piece matter-of-fact journalism in quite some time from any of them (except for maybe the Notre Dame thing, and this quickly went down a spiral of speculation) in a very long time. It's all op-ed pieces now and you don't have to know much about Fox, CNN, Breitbart, and MSNBC to know what their conclusion is going to be. Don't even get me started on truly trash outlets like TYT, Infowars, and Vox.

If Saturday Night Live were genuinely interested in being funny (and I don't think they have been for a long time) they would be doing constant satire of the news. I know very few people that are devoted to any of the MSM but those people that do so, are the epitome of brainwashed. I hate almost all politicians and with rare exceptions like Ron Paul, I don't feel that any of them are actually telling the truth, ever. They rely on surveys to find out what the people want to hear and then say precisely that. It's a joke and I don't really even get concerned about it because we the people, are never going to be truly represented by our masters. The best we can hope for is for them to leave us alone - that's all I want.

Lies and more lies is what is fed to everyone. I actually think Donald trump getting in was great for your country. I say that as it has shook the political world right up that a total outsider walked through the front door. I wish it happens in a few other countries as maybe things will improve.

Good post. You made several key points and objective truths throughout. You are correct about the op-ed pieces being passed off as journalism. I also liked your line "the media response was as predictable as a Transformer movie storyline". I am now following you. Keep posting.

The political world is indeed very evil. Various methods are used to bring down political opponents. Nowadays people use social media to make fake news that causes division. I really don't like politics, sir.
