Origami Journey - Redeemed by Pink Octopus

Thank you @Sandrina.Life for Suggesting A Return to Origami Octopus!

The result is noteworthy.

Back in December (2017) I completed the #alphabetartchallenge by @tonyr. For "O" I chose to make an origami octopus, and I can safely say that day was the beginning of the end -
the end of a life without origami!

After experiencing the frustration fun of making an origami octopus from a sheet of notebook paper, it was time to take the next steps on my origami journey. So I acquired a package of square sheets in 3 sizes and many colors with the mindset of
Fold them all! No mistakes, no worries!

This is the first model on the origami journey made using a larger sheet of paper, it's an 8" square instead of the smaller 4 1/2" and 5 7/8" squares used on the earlier stops.

Kind of looks like a tulip at this stage. There's a faint outline on the grey background from the doodle stage, and by comparing the tulip shape you can see how much smaller the square became after some folding.

There's that reference penny.

Here's a look at the underside, also where the inflation orifice is located when the model is held just so.

This model is a far cry better than the notebook paper octopus. He will be remembered. May you R.I.P. (rest in paper), Octopod. Welcome to the menagerie, pink octopus!

This is so adorableee! And perfect fo valentines hihi :D
Maybe a few more pink origami-s? ^-^

Thank you! You know, I do have plenty of Valentine's Day appropriate colors. Since you did ask very nicely, I accept your challenge. There's still time!

I have no idea how you fold that thing lol it looks so small, I feel like my fingers would just be crushing it as I try to make all those folds! It is very impressive, great progress!

Having patience definitely helps when it comes to folding origami. I have wanted to intentionally crush some of the models I've folded, frustrating at times. Thanks for stopping by!

Hahahaha his head is so puffy!!! Super cool addition to the origami creature collection

Yeah, he's got a fat head. I was surprised how large it was after I blew the air in. Thanks for checking him out! This one turned out a lot more like what I had in mind originally.

This is sooo pretty. You see, try try try and you can get it done. It is all about practice!

Practice is my best friend! lol

Your folding skills are getting better by the day. And even though I was quite enamoured of original note-book Octi, this one is amazingly realistic and well 'folded'. Very nice works indeed. I really like the pre-doodles too. That adds a lot to the final critter.

Do you pre-plan where they will end up, and doodle accordingly? Or is it a hit and miss sort of thing?
I need to try some of these, it would be fun to have them sitting around the already cluttered desk area, adding to the daily joy. Though I think much practice would have to transpire, before I had little lumps of paper everywhere. "What's THAT"? "An Oragami Otter". "OH".

Have a nice Sunday. Hope it's not snowing down there ( :

The doodles are definitely hit-or-miss. I've been doodling first then choosing what model to fold afterwards. Part of the fun is seeing which parts of the doodle turn up where on the finished product.

Origami otter, that's a good one! You could make your own Schteinn-a-gami, the art of paper crumpling.

Sunday was cold, windy and bright - no snow here this time around. Thanks for the kind words. Enjoy the week!

A quick note. Are you OK with me putting a link to this post in my latest? About the Octo-Brät? Thought it might be nice to have a tie-in with the octopus. Since you kind of added to the idea with your creative, ongoing Octopus-igami thing. Thanks.

Lol, yes of course! I saw the post last night, going to check it out in further detail this morning. Thank you!

That is rather adorable :) I like the curls you put into the tentacles. Could the notepaper one inflate? I can't remember that far back XD

goatsig

You know, I think the last one wanted to inflate but never quite made it to that stage. This model was a lot easier to fold than the other. Thanks for stopping by!

This is so awesome! I love it!

Thank you! I have to go see what you've been doing, it's been a while ☺
