You Settled
I want you to be happy
but I need you to understand
he’s keeping you from the joy
that you so desire
the joy you’re suppressing to demand
he’s blocking your view
obscuring the future
hindsight is twenty-twenty,
I still wish you’d learn that sooner
until you’re able to see that
grasp and fully comprehend
then you’re stuck here stagnant
living in a fantasy of play and pretend

Sounds like your friend is with someone holding her back. We humans like to do that sometimes.
Sometimes it's easier to hold onto something that's comfortable, even if it's not good for us. I agree, us humans tend to do that.
