Below is a tracking of my journey through this piece. It is acrylic, and watercolor on paper. I started with a simple pencil drawing, and it literally evolved from there. I got the idea for the basic image from a textbook that I read regarding the history of tattooing.
I started with some basic coloring working with acrylic paints and playing with the shapes of light and curves.
Faces have always been a weak point of mine, so I kept it simple here.
I like orange, and it has been successful with my other paintings, so I went with it.
Playing with different shapes, and lines for the background, and adding the black into her figure, I dont know exactly where the inspiration for that came from, but it was interesting, and made her seem more real.
Starting to add different touches here and there. I think it's coming together..
And here is the finished product...at least I think it feels done...I may go back to it in a few weeks, but right now, it feels good...
