The Paleo Diet Is The Most Popular With U.S. Consumers Right Now
According to new research by take-out service Grubhub, which handles billions of dollars in food orders every year, the Paleo Diet is said to be on the rise as the most popular with consumers in the U.S. right now.
The Paleo Diet is a food lifestyle which promotes the consumption of items like meat, fish, vegetables, healthy fats, nuts, seeds, and fruits. And discourages the consumption of things like dairy, grains, processed foods, and sugars. It can also be referred to as the Caveman or the Stone Age diet.
When it comes to the Paleo diet, there are variations made. There are different opinions within the Paleo crowd, on exactly what should be considered acceptable within the diet. For example, some who follow the Paleo diet think it's fine to incorporate eggs or grass-fed butter, while others do not.
Grubhub recently analyzed their online take-out orders to try and estimate what sort of diet might be the most popular. The Paleo food sales that they saw in 2016 were said to have been a 370 per cent increase from the year before.
In order to analyze the orders, they investigated specific diet tags and eating plans of orders placed, and they examined orders from January 1st of last year up until December 31st of 2016.
Aside from the popularity of Paleo, their data also revealed that Seattle is apparently the most health-conscious city within the country.
They had the most amount of orders placed that required specific dietary instructions related to various eating plans or diets. One of the most popular plans in Seattle is said to be the gluten-free restriction.
Where did they find the Paleo diet to be the most popular? Texas.
Aside from the popularity increase for the Paleo diet, they also notice that the raw food trend is on the rise as well, along with others. When it comes to their increase in 2016 compared to 2015, here is what they found:
- Raw food diet 92 % increase
- Vegan diet 58% increase
- Keto 5% increase
- Gluten-free 35% increase
Others on the rise were juice cleanse food plans, low fat, and Mediterranean.

Great article! Informative and supporting healthy eats!
Of course popular in Texas where they're going to be the last to give up their cooked meats despite the fact they cause cancer
Go extreme to our human roots and you'll find full health. A Raw Vegan Diet isn't Nutritionally Deficient like the mainstream would tell you. That propaganda is funded by the food industry which thrives off giving us addictive junk food!
In fact as the article I just linked above demonstrates, protein requirements are incredibly exaggerated and we can get enough protein in fruit, for real!
Totally. This article is pure bs. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=paleo,vegan Veganism is much more popular. A meat centric paleo diet is not safe for humans at any stage of life. In reality paleo = fruitarian. You are right one with the bit about raw veganism.
did you even read the information posted? 😂 if you had, you would've noticed that I also noted the growth with various diets, including raw, vegan, and others. The assumption that paleo was the most popular at the moment was based on the data by grubhub, based on the growth in sales in that diet segment. What specifically about their data "is BS"? They investigated the diet habits of their customers and they revealed what they found.
and grubhub aren't the only ones to suggest that Americans are eating more meat - https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2017/07/03/americans-eat-more-beef-and-meat-trend-thats-expected-continue/435331001/

regarding your link there, the rate of people searching for the term vegan or paleo doesn't demonstrate anything other than just that, it doesn't indicate how many are subscribing to that diet.
Did this article say that you should go paleo? or that paleo was best? no, it didn't. just simply sharing information 👍
It's an encouraging trend, even though keto seems to be lagging. I'll look at their data set. I, personally, haven't seen much of an increase in grass fed meat availability, but then I don't deal in billions of dollars of food delivery either.
Started Keto about 6 months myself, best decision,, all of these diets in general will do a lot of people good
A lot of what it serves to do is gives people a way out of bad habits, and the energy to get there. There are many pitfalls, but it's a positive way to reclaim brain function, and from there to springboard to the next step.
Good stuff man.
What do YOU eat though???? Share your life with your fans man!!
lol

Great post. I myself am on a keto diet. I guess both are a healthy option. Interesting to compare the two.
i hear that it is a very tough one to stick w/
It's the feeling of hunger at times. Plus others around eating yummy looking food that I can't have.
However, the feeling of wellbeing trumps all and makes it all worthwhile.
Yep, being hungry can suck. That being said, we've found that hunger isn't always the signal you think you're getting, and that food is much more of a habit for most people than a necessity. Google "5 Day Water Fast" for more, some pretty interesting stuff out there.
Excellent post dear friend @doitvoluntarily I must admit that I ignored the existence of this diet of Paleo, thank you as always of good material
Interesting, nice post, good job
We're definitely seeing more GrubHub orders come in at Paleo Treats. While I think Paleo is here to stay, I also like seeing the growing interest in "real food" in general. What we've found after 8 years of running a Paleo food company is when it comes to diets, only 2 things are usually true:
*your diet should be low to zero in processed sugar
*you should believe your diet works
Anything beyond that seems to be so dang individualized. Whether you're Paleo, vegan, keto, gluten-free etc doesn't seem to make as much difference as making sure those 2 points are in order.
Having said all that, we believe that Paleo is an excellent place to start for most people looking for a healthier diet.

Thank you for this information. I recently watched a documentary called "The Perfect Human Diet" and the information seemed to suggest that a Paleo diet is the healthiest lifestyle. It was an interesting documentary that I would suggest for anyone interested in healthy living.
