Visit to Pieve Tesino and the Garden of Europe, Trentino Alto Adige - Discovering Italy with alequandro

A few weeks ago I visited Castello Tesino and I liked it a lot, so last week I thought of visiting the nearby town called Pieve Tesino.

The village is located in Trentino Alto Adige at an altitude of 843 meters above sea level and is inhabited by only 650 people.

Qualche settimana fa avevo visitato Castello Tesino e mi era molto piaciuto, così la scorsa settimana ho pensato di visitare la cittadina vicina che si chiama Pieve Tesino.

Il paesino si trova in Trentino Alto Adige ad una altitudine di 843 metri sul livello del mare ed è abitato da solo 650 persone.

We parked the car near the church of San Sebastian which is the most peripheral church.

Abbiamo parcheggiato la macchina nei pressi della chiesa di San Sebastiano che è la chiesa più periferica del paese.

Then we climbed a long tree-lined avenue.
The view was exceptional and the day was splendid!

Poi abbiamo risalito un lungo viale alberato.
La vista era eccezzionale e la giornata era splendida!

Two imposing pillars with two statues on the summit delimited the avenue with the church courtyard.

Due imponenti pilastri con due statue sulla sommità delimitavano il viale con il cortile della chiesa.

Another look at the landscape and immediately I noticed a group of trees positioned to form an oval.
It was a "roccolo"!

Until 1968 they were mainly used for the capture of birds through nets but later they were no longer used as the capture and killing of birds with this system was forbidden.

It's the first time I've seen one restored...

Un'altro sguardo al paesaggio e subito mi sono accorto di un gruppo di alberi posizionati in modo da formare un ovale.
Si trattava di un "roccolo" !

Fino al 1968 venivano usati principalmente per la cattura degli uccelli tramite delle reti ma in seguito non furono più utilizzati in quanto la cattura e l’uccisione degli uccelli con questo sistema subì un divieto.

E' la prima volta che ne vedo uno restaurato...

Pochi metri ed eccoci dinanzi alla chiesa.

The strange thing about this church is that they decided to build the bell tower in front of the facade.

La cosa strana di questa chiesa è che hanno deciso di costruire il campanile davanti alla facciata.

A curiosity of this church is that in 1575 in the bell tower the captain of Primiero was forced to stay, since during the journey between Primiero and Strigno (two nearby villages), he was accused, by the inhabitants of Pieve di Tesino, of being a carrier of plague.

Una curiosità di questa chiesa è che nel 1575 fu costretto ad alloggiare nel campanile il capitano di Primiero, poiché durante il viaggio tra Primiero e Strigno, due paesini vicini, fu accusato, dagli abitanti di Pieve di Tesino, di essere portatore di peste.

Continuing beyond the church there was a short path that leads to a panoramic terrace with benches.
A quiet place to relax.

Proseguendo oltre la chiesa c'era un breve percorso che porta a una terrazza panoramica con delle panchine.
Un posto tranquillo per rilassarsi.

Unfortunately the church was closed so we decided to walk towards the center of the village.
After only five minutes of walking we were in front of another church...

La chiesa purtroppo era chiusa così abbiamo deciso di camminare verso il centro del paesino.
Dopo soli cinque minuti di cammino eravamo di fronte a un'altra chiesa...

It was the church of the Assunta. A Gothic church from the 12th century with an interior arranged in three naves.

I always appreciate very much the care of the flowers that the Trentino have to decorate public spaces.

Si trattava della chiesa dell'Assunta. Una chiesa gotica del XII secolo con interno disposto su tre navate.

Apprezzo sempre molto la cura dei fiori che hanno i trentini per decorare gli spazi pubblici.

The church was open and we took advantage to enter and take a short break to observe the internal structures and works.

La chiesa era aperta e abbiamo approffitato per entrare e fare una breve pausa ad osservare le strutture e le opere interne.

Once out and resumed visiting the village it was very pleasant to walk among the houses very close together and all decorated with colorful flowers.

Una volta usciti e ripresa la visita del paesino è stato molto piacevole camminare fra le case molto vicine tra loro e tutte abbellite con fiori colorati.

The tourist season is now over and the roads were almost deserted.
Sometimes there was a resident watching us but nothing more: D

The whole town for us!

Ormai la stagione turistica è finita e le strade erano quasi deserte.
C'era qualche volta un residente che ci osservava ma niente di più :D

Tutta la cittadina per noi!

At one point we arrived in front of a rose-colored building and an inscribed plaque.
It was the house where Alcide De Gasperi was born, the first president of the Italian Republic.
He was born in that house in 1881!
Now the house is a museum.

Ad un certo punto siamo giunti davanti a un palazzo di colore rosato e una targa affissa.
Era la casa dove era nato Alcide De Gasperi, il primo presidente della Repubblica Italiana.
Nacque in quella casa nel 1881!
Ora la casa è un museo.

A local told me there are 13 fountains in Pieve Tesino!

Una persona del luogo mi ha detto che a Pieve Tesino ci sono 13 fontane!

Ecco la piazza principale dove c'è la monumentale settecentesca fontana ottagonale di pietra rossa con quattro getti d'acqua e dietro, di colore giallo il municipio.

Here is the main square where there is the monumental eighteenth-century octagonal fountain of red stone with four jets of water and behind, yellow the town hall.

After lunch we decided to visit an area just outside the village, the Europa Garden and the Tesino Arboretum.

Dopo pranzo abbiamo deciso di visitare una zona appena fuori dal paesino, il giardino d'europa e l'arboreto di Tesino.

Just 10 minutes walk we arrived at the garden of Europe, dedicated to Alcide De Gasperi.

The layout of the garden is interesting because they decided to design it with the appearance of the European parliament and trying to insert the concepts of European ideals to which the first President of the Italian Republic De Gasperi aspired...

A soli 10 minuti a piedi siamo arrivati al giardino d'Europa, dedicato ad Alcide De Gasperi.

La disposizione del giardino è interessante perchè hanno deciso di progettarlo con le sembianze del parlamento europeo e cercando di inserire i concetti di ideali europei a cui aspirava il primo presidente della Repubblica Italiana De Gasperi...

The garden is addressed to Pieve Tesino and just like in the European parliament it is arranged on several levels.

Il giardino si rivolge a Pieve Tesino e proprio come nel parlamento europeo è disposto su più livelli.

The concept is that the essences and plants of the garden reflect the different countries, with their diversity and peculiarities, coexisting in harmony with each other.

Il concetto è che le essenze e le piante del giardino rispecchiano i deversi paesi, con le loro diversità e peculiarità coesistendo in armonia tra loro.

Imagine if the whole garden had all the plants of the same type, with flowers of the same color ... it would be just a big uniform stain! Monotonous and uninteresting.

Diversity is the richness of colors, shapes and fragrances.
This is a dynamic garden that is a symbol is an ideal in my opinion, to be pursued.

I liked the concept of the garden.

Immaginate se tutto il giardino avesse tutte le piante dello stesso tipo, con i fiori dello stesso colore...sarebbe solo una grossa macchia uniforme! Monotona e poco interessante.

La diversità è la ricchezza dei colori, delle forme, dei profumi.
Questo è un giardino dinamico che è un simbolo è un ideale a mio parere, da perseguire.

Il concetto del giardino mi è molto piaciuto.

After half an hour to appreciate flowers, plants and the landscape, we decided to walk a stretch of the arboretum.

Dopo mezzora ad apprezzare fiori, piante e il paesaggio, abbiamo deciso di percorrere un tratto dell'arboreto.

The arboretum is very large.
It covers 14 hectares and can be completed in about 2 hours.

L'arboreto è molto grande.
Si estende per 14 ettari e si può compiere il giro in circa 2 ore.

Without knowing it, I then discovered that the "roccolo" I was talking about at the beginning was in the arboretum...

Senza saperlo ho poi scoperto che il roccolo di cui parlavo all'inizio, era proprio nell'arboreto...

The arboretum is rich in elements and interesting areas to see, there are small woods, flowery meadows, peat bogs, natural environments rich in herbaceous, arboreal and shrubby species.

One area that struck me is that of the Zen garden.

The garden consists of a circular labyrinth made of stones placed on the ground, considered a path for meditation, knowledge and healing. It presents a long road without obstacles and obligations of choice, which leads to the center of it, the main place for finding answers.

L'arboreto è ricco di elementi e zone interessanti da vedere, ci sono boschetti, prati fioriti, torbiere, ambienti naturali ricchi di specie erbacee, arboree ed arbustive.

Una zona che mi ha colpito è quella del giardino zen.

Il giardino è costituito da un labirinto circolare fatto di pietre poste a terra, considerato un percorso per la meditazione, la conoscenza e la guarigione. Presenta una lunga via priva di ostacoli e obblighi di scelta, che porta al centro di esso, luogo principale per la ricerca di risposte.

I tried to walk the labyrinth and I can say that it relaxed and put me a little hungry! :D

Ho provato a percorrere il labirinto e posso dire che mi ha rilassato e messo anche un po' di fame! :D

It was late, the sun was about to set, so we decided to go back and I took the opportunity to take some more photos of the flowers in the garden of Europe.

Era tardi, il sole stava per tramontare, così abbiamo deciso di tornare indietro e ho colto l'occasione per scattare ancora qualche foto ai fiori del giardino d'europa.

As much as a person sees them all his life, flowers will never cease to amaze and fascinate...

Per quanto una persona li veda tutta la vita, i fiori non smetteranno mai di stupire e affascinare...
