Collonges-la-Rouge: Painting a Memory
It most certainly is no secret to my esteemed followers here that I'm a die-hard Francophile. One of my favourite regions in France is the Limousin and there exists a little village from the 8th century, which was built almost entirely of red sandstone.
Collonges-la-Rouge has a very special atmosphere. On my adventure trip into the world of fine arts I have distilled an abiding memory of this special place in a painting that I would like to present to you here.
If you would like to visit Collonges-la-Rouge yourself, you can get in the proper mood by checking Wikipedia which has lots of photos of the place. Once you're there I highly recommend you stop by at "Le Cantou," a restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and excellent cuisine!

Dass ich ein Francophiler bin, ist meinen geschätzten Followern hier bestimmt nicht verborgen geblieben. Eine meiner liebsten Regionen in Frankreich ist das Limousin und dort gibt es ein Dörfchen aus dem 8. Jahrhundert, das fast ganz aus rotem Sandstein erbaut wurde.
Collonges-la-Rouge hat eine sehr eigene Atmosphäre. Auf meiner Abenteuerreise in die Welt der bildenden Kunst habe ich die Erinnerung an diesen besonderen Ort in einem Gemälde verarbeitet, dass ich euch hier vorstelle.
Wer sich Collonges-la-Rouge gerne mal selber anschauen will, wird in der englischen Wikipedia fündig; da gibt es eine Menge Fotos zur Einstimmung. (Der deutsche Artikel ist etwas dürftig.) Vor Ort empfehle ich euch, unbedingt im "Le Cantou" einzukehren, einem Restaurant mit schnuckeliger Atmosphäre und ausgezeichneter Küche!

Wow, ein Meister der Perspektive. Da bin ich ja ein Stümper gegen. Das habe ich am PC gemalt mit Corel Painter 2015 :-). Erkennt das jemand?
Danke :-) Mit der Meisterlichkeit ist es nicht weit her. Erstens gibt es ein Referenzfoto und zweitens ist Perspektive Mathematik, was mir als analem Ingenieurtypus an der ganzen Malerei noch am leichtesten fällt. Schwer finde ich weglassen und abstrahieren...
Dein Gemälde ist schön und erinnert mich an den Central Park. Habe aber leider keine Ahnung, wo das ist. Vielleicht verrätst Du es ja? !BEER
Ja richtig, das soll der Central Park sein :-). Ich male ja nur digital mit Pen und einem Wacom-Tablett. Da gibt es auch viele Filter, Pinsel und Brushes. Das hat mit der echten Malerei nicht viel zu tun :-).
Tja, ich war auch immer so, "Bild ist Bild", "Foto ist sowieso überlegen" u.s.w.. Ich stelle jetzt, 50 Jahre nach dem letzten Kunstunterricht, fest dass "echte" Malerei eine sinnliche, entspannende Erfahrung ist, die der Rechner einfach nicht hergibt. Und es macht Spaß!
Angefangen hat es mit Acryl, weil Caroline ein Studio hat, wo der ganze Kram einfach wg. dem Pouring in rauhen Mengen vorrätig ist. Mittlerweile schieße ich mich aber langsam auf Aquarell bzw. aquarellierbare Buntstifte (!) ein. Vielleicht versuchst Du das ja mal; das halte ich für einen regelrechten Geheimtipp...
Im Video spricht er von den "Albrecht Dürer"-Stiften; die sind mit 50€ à 36 Stiften ziemlich teuer. Es gibt ein tschechisches Markenprodukt (Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth, Mondeluz) die fast genau so gut sind und glatt die Hälfte kosten, ca. 42€ für 72 Stifte. Falls Du es probieren willst ;-)

Thanks. You should check it out; it's in a beautiful region. Only 6 hrs by car for you; straight shot down via Orléans and Limoges. Nothing is far in Europe ;-)
