The Zekely Review is BACK!

I like to pause once every week and look back through my photos to relive memorable moments, remember the forgotten ones, and reflect upon adventures of the recent past. Simply, in a vain hope my small-town swashbuckling entertains you, why the hell not?

We are in the middle of a month-long lockdown with a side order of stay-at-home but a rockin' Zeke gathers no moss.

This week, it's all about outdoors, food and fun.

I am sneaking up on the the garden prep this year by tackling some side projects. This one was a war with no-man's land where weeds and litter used to throw a season-long party. There were occasional battles with the weed whacker but this year, I got ahead of it.

Some landscapers fabric and a strong back is all it takes! That, 2/3 of a yard of medium river rock and a couple hours.

Despite my lack of early spring attention, things are sprouting and growing and enjoying a warm spring. These ones pop early and proud purple blooms then spread dark green patch in the garden. I will have to count how many different blooms I have scattered around home by the end of the garden season.

I have an unexpected update on the cake that was so popular last week. Apparently it needed another shift to complete and this is actually the final product. The icing was a tub of vanilla that was shaded purposefully with food colouring to get that perfect swampy hue. With crushed oreos in the middle layer of icing, this one legitimately gets my stamp of approval.

It was not all fun and games as there is always plenty of work to do. Sometimes, that work includes visiting a client a few days before the grand reopening and inspecting the product. Everything looks and tastes ready to go and I may just tell that story on week 201 of #beersaturday.

The games of the week have obviously included a health dose of Dungeons & Dragons but we got back into some troll slaying of a different sort. This is Warhammer: Vermintide 2 https://www.vermintide.com/ and the latest Chaos Wastes https://www.vermintide.com/news/chaos-wastes-out-now update.

We played the shit out of this game over the last year so this new DLC has been well received by the team of provincial hosers. Here, we have Mayhem, Frank, Zerth and myself finishing off a Bile Troll. The only shot I managed to snap as the game is so chaotic and I need to remap my screenshot key to a mouse thumb button. Plenty of new games coming out this year so I may spend more time playing and reviewing more.

Back to food! The president of the Multicultural Association Perth Huron www.maph.ca and I delivered some donuts to supporters and front line workers.

There was a dedicated skeleton staff at the Covid assessment center and they were happy for a little visit.

Then I met up with a couple friends who wanted to serve some lunch to front line workers.

Then a few more.

Then a couple more. That is a story worthy of its own @town-crier post so stay tuned.

If @daveks is the king of sunset shots, then I am at least the court jester. I will never stop trying though! The sun goes down on another awesome week up north!

We are 3 weeks into a Grey/lockdown with an added stay at home order, seeing some stupidity. The weather is getting nice and we are hopeful for reduced numbers matched with increased vaccination as 40 and above are cleared for the jab. Lockdown could end soon but it is expected we extend it so the blanket lays over the whole province to remain vigilant. Time to help more small businesses.

Thanks for checking in. Stay safe and happy 'til the next Zekely.
