Parable of Jesus: In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. Luke 18:2
The Gospel of Luke relates that, having performed the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves in Bethsaida and his transfiguration on a mountain, Jesus had concluded his spiritual activity in the region of Galilee. The Gospel of Luke recounts that Jesus journeyed towards Jerusalem, the place where the divine teacher knew he would be crucified, and during this journey, Jesus gave important teachings, such as the parable of the good Samaritan and the Lord's Prayer.
And among these mysterious teachings about the Kingdom of God, there is one about divine justice and constancy that is worth mentioning, and this teaching is the parable of the unjust judge, also known as the parable of the persistent widow. Although this story told by Lord Jesus is very brief, it has a profound spiritual message, persistence and perseverance are powers that should not be forgotten if men want to achieve wellness and success.
And with these words, Jesus began his parable: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.'" Luke 18:2-3. Jesus continued with his story and explained that the Judge initially refused to grant justice to the widow, but in the end, due to her persistence, the judge agreed to her request so that the widow would not bother him anymore. In short, the widow, a single woman with years behind her and without the help of her husband, used the power of persistence to achieve her request for justice.
But Jesus did not want to stop there, and with his wisdom, he went further and asked himself if men acted this way with their selfishness and sin, how could God act as judge when his children insistently prayed for his help? And so, in response to this question, Jesus wisely concluded: "I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly" Luke 18:8. Jesus ultimately, with this story, wanted to teach the importance of asking God persistently and with a good heart to be heard by the Father who is in heaven.
