The art of doing nothing

in #partiko5 years ago (edited)

We're at the beach for a couple of days and enjoying the holiday time, which is quite different than real time. The days before leaving were pretty hectic, so it's a nice change.

On the first night here I found myself watching a slug, which is the best you can do, as far as doing nothing is concerned. I had a good reason to do that, as my feet were killing me and I was determined to rest in the grass while waiting for a concert... and I didn't the slug crawling over me. Quite a strange feeling to realize you've got nothing better to do than watch a slug!

Yesterday, I spent most if the evening watching the sky getting darker as we were trying to determine if and when it's going to rain...It did rain, but we manged to get out of the room and find food.
At present, I'm watching my son wallowing in self-pity on account of a sore throat... well, it did get cold after the rain last night, what can you do!?
He'll survive, I'm sure...and anyway it's kinda windy to be at the beach... and the water is rather cold.

On Monday, we're heading back, but hopefully we can still get a few decent hours at the beach... I'll see what I can find to watch ....
Sorry I don't have decent seaside pictures, but it's a crowded place, so we didn't take to the beach anything but towels and water... They have these creepy gnomes at the place we're staying. I imagine they thought I was quite dumb to be taking pictures of such horrible stalkish statues... or maybe it made them proud somebody appreciates their gnomes... who knows?
Anyway, it's rather good to be disconnected for a while...

This one is way beyond creepy, don't you think?

It seems more and more people are unplugging lately. It's a wonderful thing to learn how to just "be" again, isn't it?

That last troll looks like a dwarf from a Disney film, only very disgruntled. Maybe it's "creepy" the unknown eight dwarf from Snow White? Lol.

Here in the States people are building miniature "troll houses" at the bases of trees. Some are very elaborate with little front yards and everything. The next time I see one I'll snap a photo of it.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Years ago, there was a Garden Gnomes Liberation Front, operating in France, and they pulled all sorts of pranks, taking gnomes to the woods or sending former owners postcards of their gnomes adventures.... I always wanted to join that front, but releasing these creeps into the wild doesn't seem like a good idea...
