Fires Head of Cybersecurity, Former CIA Boss Calling Donald Trump Rash
Former CIA Director John Brennan said the incumbent US President Donald Trump had taken the rash move by sacking US Cyber Security Chief Chris Krebs. According to him, this decision would endanger America's national security, considering that Chris Krebs is an integral figure in protecting the US cyber ecosystem from foreign invasion.
"It shows that he is impulsive, reckless, and unfortunately he is still in power as President of America. He can do the same thing in the next 60 days and that threatens national security," said Brennan, quoted by CNN, Wednesday, November 18, 2020.
As previously reported, Donald Trump fired Krebs via Twitter. Because of this, Chris Krebs stated that the US Election on November 3 was safe and there was no fraud as claimed by Trump. According to Donald Trump, Krebs' statements were so inaccurate that he did not deserve to be in his administration anymore.
Krebs himself realized that his statements were risky. In a Reuters report last week, he, who heads the Cyber Division of the Homeland Security Department, admitted that he could potentially be fired if he disputed Donald Trump's claims.
Brennan continued that Krebs was highly respected in the institution he worked for. On the other hand, he has also done very well in securing the 2020 US Election. Therefore, he was not surprised when Donald Trump then decided to fire him just because of different views on the US election.
"Donald Trump doesn't know anything about cybersecurity and technology, so he can continue to curse anyone who disagrees with him. Chris is the target," said Brennan.

Brennan hopes that Republicans will not just watch the latest action from Donald Trump. According to him, with Republicans silent, it gives space for Donald Trump to do whatever he wants without realizing the risks. The more Donald Trump is left alone, Brennan said, the more out of control he will be.
"Republicans should voice their protests, criticize Trump's authoritarian attitude ... How toxic is the American administration under Trump who ignores the law," he stressed.
On his Twitter account, Chris Krebs responded to Donald Trump's dismissal diplomatically. He said, "Feel honored to serve. We did it right. Keep it today, keep it tomorrow".
