PEPPERSOUP SEASON!!

The rainy season tires me, never loved it and I'm not sure I ever will. The poor state of the roads and drainage systems don't make it any easier. Streets suddenly turn into raging torrents of dirty knee deep water, cars instantly turn to canoes and the "keke " oftentimes is engrossed in a battle they barely come out of unscathed.

Power supply almost always goes off when it rains. It's been that way since I was a toddler and I'm not sure it'll change anytime soon. Someone said it's a safety measure and I wonder if rain only falls in Nigeria. We have been churning out graduates though, so I figure solving that issue was outside the curriculum. Life goes on.

The rain however, sets the mood for a cup of hot chocolate (talk about making lemonade out of lemons), it is perfect for akara with a steaming bowl of pap(akamu).. .It awakens awesome fresh fish peppersoup ideas and inspires duvet moments.

Yesterday I spoke with a dear friend and complained that it was raining again. I was advised to go outside and dance in the rain. I'm amazed at the love this my friend has for me honestly...... I was to go outside and make friends with the raindrops and dance with them, to put an end to this thirty something year grudge with rainy season. Don't ask me if I went along with it........

There Is a subtle, hidden beauty in everything.... Something to be loved. The good book says the earth is full of His goodness..... There is so much good in the earth.... So much goodness!!!

So I have baptised the rainy season with the name "peppersoup season" in the spirit of seeing only goodness. After all there has to be a silver lining.
