Better Self Note 2 | When Good Times Fool You

There is a saying that many people dismiss when life is going well:

"Don't spend everything you earn. Save. Invest. Prepare."

To some, it sounds unnecessary. After all, why worry about tomorrow when today is comfortable?

Then came 2020.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed the world almost overnight. Businesses shut their doors. Companies downsized. Millions of people who once enjoyed stable incomes suddenly found themselves without jobs or reliable sources of income.

What made the difference wasn't always how much people earned before the crisis. In many cases, it was how well they had prepared for a season they never saw coming.

Some had savings that carried them through difficult months. Others had investments or additional income streams that helped them survive. But many had built their lives around the assumption that tomorrow would always look like yesterday.

Life has a way of reminding us that no season lasts forever.

Prosperity is not only a time to enjoy the present; it is also a time to prepare for the future.

This principle goes beyond money. It applies to our skills, relationships, health, and character. The best time to prepare for a difficult season is before it arrives.

No one predicted COVID-19. Yet it taught us a lesson we should never forget: don't wait for a crisis before you start preparing.

Reflection

What are you doing today that will help you remain standing when life becomes uncertain?

Today's Challenge

Save a portion of your income, no matter how small.

Invest in learning a skill that can create opportunities.

Build the habit of preparing, not just reacting.

Your future is built one disciplined day at a time.
