When a Feeder Bug Becomes Your Friend
We were feeding our lizard/frog superworms, and one happened to burrow into the substrate before being eaten. It emerged a couple weeks later as this darkling beetle.
Our reptiles hate the taste of these beetles apparently. Our frog ignored it as it climbed all over him. I took it, and then put in the bearded dragon tank. He ignored it for a good week. I finally took it out and was going to let it go free. Before letting it go I gave it some water in my hand, and at that point my wife decided it was cute and she wanted to keep it as a pet. So... now we have a pet beetle... named William.
