REMNANT OF THE PAST : A GLIMPSE OF A FORTRESS AND ITS HISTORY
Hi everyone! @impreciousjanine here 🙋🏽♀️🤗
I just want to share to you all how blessed I am to be living in a place rich not just in its natural attractions but also in cultural aspects, traditions, and historical ensembles.
Philippines is like a big theater wherein there are a lot of different stories to tell and different views to see. Wherever you go, there will always something good to offer.
Cebu is one of the places which has many beautiful sceneries both naturally and historically. On one part of the southern part of Cebu, there stands a strong wall embodied with its history of courage and bravery.
This is the Cuartel. This is located in Oslob, Cebu and one of the place’s tourist destintations. Foreigns and locals visit and see the amazing structure which was built as barracks for Spanish soldiers. Here is the full excerpt about the structure, to wit;
“This unique structure was built through the effort of El Gran Maestro Don Marcos Sabandal to serve as barracks for Spanish armies but eas halted during the arrival of Americans in 1899.
The coral stones used for its construction came from remnants of the collapsed floor of the church bell tower. The walls of the structure which measure 19 centimeters thick still stand. The facade built of coral stones feature a double row of arches.”
The place is open for public yet it isn’t crowded. Here are some of the pictures I took when we visited the Cuartel.
It’s physique remains strong and still. Have you seen a structure like this? Share to me your thoughts by commenting below. Don’t forget to UPVOTE & FOLLOW. 😋
Love and light,
